Tuesday, 26 September 2017

Dear parents,

Starting a Reception class in September 2018 parent sessions

The London Borough of Havering are providing free sessions that are aimed to give parents of children who are due to start a Reception class in September 2018 the opportunity to learn more about the school admissions process.  Parents will be shown a short presentation and be given the opportunity to ask questions related to the application process.  The sessions will be led by a senior member of the Admissions team.

Parents must book a session in order to be admitted to the venue and are available on a first come first served basis.  A maximum of two tickets per family can be booked. Bookings can be made at www.havering.gov.uk/admissions/bookings

Please note:

·         Due to space restrictions the venue is not suitable for pushchairs

·         The closest parking available is via the pay and display car park at the Town Hall (charges apply 7am to 6pm). Various bus routes also serve the Town Hall

Every week, teachers identify 2 outstanding pupils in their class who have had a fantastic week either academically or socially or both! These pupils are entered into the Golden Book and are announced during our Friday morning celebration assembly. Our fabulous winners in the infants receive a certificate in assembly and parents of the 'golden' children in the juniors receive a letter home, informing parents of their child's fantastic achievement.

Congratulations to our winners:

Read Together Y4

Friday, 22 September 2017

This week in Year 4 the children were helped with their reading by their parents and carers. Thank you to all the parents that attended Year 4's Read Together and for your continued support towards helping the children with their reading.

Y2 Maths of the Day

This week the children have been learning maths both inside and outside of the classroom. Here are a few pictures of the children enjoying their outside lesson.

Multi Use Gaming Area

Over the summer we had a Multi Use Gaming Area (MUGA) installed at the front of the school for use in P.E. lessons and for the children to enjoy using it at lunchtime.

So far the children have really enjoyed the MUGA and they all have a chance to use it at some point during most lunch breaks.

Year 5 Literacy

Thursday, 21 September 2017

Shhhh we are busy writing letters to Jeff Fishkin - a character in our book! Do not disturb!

Year 5 Science

Year 5 used fruit to order the planets, see their sizes and then explore concepts such as orbit rotate on an axis. They then designed and made space top trumps.

Year 3 - Languages

In Year 3 this week children have been practising greetings and have learnt a song to use them correctly.

Problem Solving Y5

We used fruit to order the planets, see their sizes  and then explore concepts such as orbit rotate on an axis. We then designed and made space top trumps.

Read Together Y2

Year 2 enjoyed sharing books with parents and carers at their Read Together on Wednesday morning.

Read Together will be every Wednesday morning til 9.00am. Come and share a book with your child!

Reception Second Intake

Wednesday, 20 September 2017

On Tuesday the second intake of children into Reception had their first day at Hilldene. There were lots of happy faces and the children enjoyed going in all areas of reception. They even enjoyed having lunch with their friends.
